Data Visualization
Course Description
This course will cover topics needed to develop robust programming workflows. We will utilize functional programming to develop code that is efficient, maintainable, and error-free. We will introduce methods for outputting results programmatically and version control using git. Advanced topics will cover efficient grouped operations, parallel computing, and data visualization. All topics will be covered with extensive example code, with an emphasis on hands-on implementation.​

James Chan, MA, MEd is a Lead Biostatistician at Massachusetts General Hospital Biostatistics. He has supported clinical research in cardiology, psychiatry, neurology, and pulmonology over the past 10 years. He currently leads a team of statistical programmers with an emphasis on designing robust systems that allow for effective collaboration, high reliability, and comprehensive logging and reproducibility. James was previously a high school math teacher and holds a masters in education and in his currently role helps people improve their R coding abilities through direct mentorship and code reviews.
